How to use Custom HTML with the Website Builder https://chemicloud.com/kb/article/how-to-use-custom-html-with-the-website-builder/ https://chemicloud.com/kb/article/how-to-use-custom-html-with-the-website-builder/#respond Thu, 26 Aug 2021 09:04:37 +0000 https://chemicloud.com/kb/?post_type=ht_kb&p=5503 You can use Custom HTML with the website builder to insert elements that are not a native part of the builder. This is a great way to insert things like iFrames, for example.

This Knowledgebase Article will guide you through how use Custom HTML with the Website Builder.

Creating your website doesn’t have to be a hassle. Our website builder makes it easy to create a beautiful website in minutes without coding or design skills.

How to use Custom HTML with the Website Builder

Using Custom HTML with the Website Builder is easy!

Step 1: Login to your cPanel. There’s a lot of ways to do this, but the sure fire easiest way is to login to your Client Area, then open your cPanel.

Step 2: Scroll down to the Software section and open the Website Builder:

Step 3: Your list of sites will load. Locate the site edit, then hover over that site and click the speedometer icon to login to the site.

Step 4: Click Pages, then All Pages.

For this example, I’m going to create a new page and insert some custom HTML. However, you absolutely don’t need to create a new page. You can insert the Custom HTML Widget on any page by following the same instructions, just skip the bit where we add a new page.

Now, if you are going to insert a Custom HTML widget on a page that already exists, you would select that page and edit it. Since I’m going to do this on a new page, I’m going to click the Add New button, which is located just beneath “All Pages”.

Step 5: Once the Page Editor opens, click the X next to “Edit Page Settings”, which is in the top left corner. This will reveal the widget menu. See he GIF below:

Step 6: Scroll through the widgets in the panel on the left side until you come to the Website Builder Widgets area.

Look for the Custom HTML Widget, and drag it onto the page in the area which says “Empty column please Drag Widgets”.

Because the widget has no content when first added, the page won’t look much different after adding the widget. You will, however, notice the text “Empty column please Drag Widgets” has disappeared” and on the left side, the Edit Custom HTML tool has opened.

Let’s take a look at the different options we have for the Custom HTML tool.

Beneath the Options section, you have these options when it comes to customizing your Custom HTML Widget:

  • Background Style
    • This is a setting that is specific to the page layout. You can change the whether the background appears as a normal background or if you want the background to change when you hover over it.
  • Background Type – This setting allows you to choose from the following settings:
    • None – There will not be a background. This means the background of the page will be white, unless otherwise stated in Custom CSS.
    • Color – You can specify a custom color for the background.
    • Gradient – You can specify a custom gradient. A gradient is a smooth transition between 2 or more colors, which can give a cool effect.
    • Image – You can upload a custom image to use as your background.
  • Box Style – This setting allows you to adjust the padding and margin for the box that contains your blog post.
  • Border Style – This setting allows you to control the following settings:
    • Normal – You can have a normal border which is always there.
    • Hover – You can have a border that only appears when the area it contains is hovered over.
    • Border Type – You can choose from the following border types:
      • Solid
      • Double
      • Dotted
      • Dashed
      • Grooved
    • Border Radius – You can adjust the radius of the border around the box it contains to give it rounder or sharper corners.
  • Font Style – This setting allows you to control the following settings:
    • Font Family – This setting will allow you to change the font used on the entire page.
    • Font Size – This setting allows you to change the size of the text used on the page.
    • Font Style – This setting allows you to choose from the following font styles:
      • Normal
      • Italic
      • Oblique
        • What is Oblique? Oblique type is a form of a type which slants slightly to the right. It is similar to Italic, but it does not use different glyph (individual letter) shapes.
  • Position Styles – By enabling this feature, you can control the fixed positioning of the box containing the Custom HTML widget.
  • Animation – This is a neat feature that lets you give some character and flair to your Custom HTML widget. You can configure various animations such as:
    • Animation:
      • Fading:
        • Fade In
        • Fade In Down
        • Fade In Up
        • Fade In Left

      • Wobble Top to Right
      • Wobble Top
      • Wobble Bottom
      • Wobble Skew
    • Scrolling Sticky
      • Top
      • Bottom
      • None
  • Motion Effects – these are effects to give the text in the Custom HTML widget a little bit of jazz. You can choose from:
    • Scrolling – so the text is always moving.
    • Mouse – the text only moves when the cursor hovers over it.
  • Responsive – This setting allows you to hide this page on certain devices, such as desktops, tablets, or mobiles.
  • Attributes – With this setting, you can apply custom attributes using code.
  • Custom CSS – if you want to change certain elements on the page using CSS, you can paste in the code to do that here.

Beneath the Settings tab of the “Edit Custom HTML” Widget, you have the following settings:

The Title is where you would enter the title or heading text for the HTML widget.

The content box is where you would paste your Custom HTML code. After pasting it, the page will automatically update to and render the code you have pasted so you can see it in preview.

You can also paste custom CSS code here to change the way the box contains the HTML content to make the page look more fancy, if you wish.

When you’ve finished and are ready to publish, be sure to click the Publish button in the top right corner.

Otherwise, if you want to safe a draft, just click the Update button in the top right corner to save.

And that’s how you insert and use the Custom HTML Widget in the Website Builder!

Managing Your Menus and Creating a New Menu https://chemicloud.com/kb/article/managing-your-menus-and-creating-a-new-menu/ https://chemicloud.com/kb/article/managing-your-menus-and-creating-a-new-menu/#respond Thu, 26 Aug 2021 09:04:37 +0000 https://chemicloud.com/kb/?post_type=ht_kb&p=5471 Menus are an important part of navigation on a website. Without them, your users won’t know which parts of your website would be considered your main pages for your content. The Website Builder gives you numerous options when it comes to menus.

This Knowledgebase Article covers how to manage menus in the Website Builder and how to create a new menu.

Creating your website doesn’t have to be a hassle. Our website builder makes it easy to create a beautiful website in minutes without coding or design skills.

Managing Your Menus and Creating a New Menu

Managing Your Menus

Step 1: Login to your cPanel. There’s a lot of ways to do this, but the sure fire easiest way is to login to your Client Area, then open your cPanel.

Step 2: Scroll down to the Software section and open the Website Builder:

Step 3: Your list of sites will load. Locate the site edit, then hover over that site and click the speedometer icon to login to the site.

Step 4: Once the Website Admin page comes up, click Menus from the row of options on the left.

Step 5: Keep in mind, most of the themes in the Website Builder have a default Header Menu, which is the default menu. You can edit this menu from the Menus area:

Take note of the menu structure. This is the order in which the menu items will appear on all of your pages wherever the menu appears. For the menu above, this is the Header Menu, so it’s the menu that appears at the top of the page.

You can edit the menu items individually and control individual aspects of them. To do this, click the downward facing arrow at the end of the menu item title.

When it comes to editing a menu, there are a lot of options.

Let’s take a look at these options and what they mean:

  1. The menu name gives you the option to change the name of the menu for easier identification.
  2. The Navigation Client Areael indicates the title of the item as it appears in the menu.
  3. Title Attribute gives you the option to use custom code with CSS to change the appearance or other attributes of the title as defined by CSS.
  4. Open link in new tab allows you to set this menu item so that when people click on it, the URL referenced by the menu item opens in a new tab.
  5. With CSS Classes, you have the option to assign a specific class to this menu item using Custom CSS.
  6. The Link Relationship (XFN) field allows you to enter the value for your link relationships, if you are using these. You can read more about them here.
  7. You can enter a description for the menu, if you wish. This is an interesting use of SEO, and depending on the theme you selected, the description may show. Therefore, be sure to use something that is relevant to the description being shown. Perhaps you can use this as a subtitle or caption to your menu.
  8. The move option allows you to move the menu item up or down the menu.
  9. This text indicates the original title of the menu item.
  10. You have the option to remove the menu item or cancel your changes with these options.

Adding Items to an Existing Menu

You have several options when it comes to adding items to your menu.

As you can see from the image above, you can choose from the following sections of your website to add it as a menu item:

  • Pages
  • Posts
  • Custom Links
  • Categories

This makes menus very versatile, and not just for linking to pages. You can link to categories, specific URLS, even those that aren’t located on your own site.

When selecting one of these items, use the checkbox, then select Add to Menu.

Be sure to click Save Menu in the lower right corner to save your menu changes.

Deleting a Menu

If you find you no longer need this menu and don’t wish to rebuild it, you can delete it by clicking delete menu:

You will be asked to confirm if you are 100% sure you wish to delete the menu, so don’t live in fear about accidentally clicking this link and destroying your menu.

Rearranging Items on a Menu

You can rearrange the items in a menu by dragging and dropping them into your desired order. See the GIF below for an example:

Be sure to click Save Menu when you’ve finished arranging the items as desired.

Creating a Menu

If you need additional menus, you can create them by clicking ‘create a new menu’.

After clicking create a new menu, you’ll need to give your menu a name:

Be sure to click Create Menu when you’ve given it a name.

Now you can add items into the menu:

  1. You can add items from this area into your menu.
  2. The Menu Settings allow you to control certain settings, such as:
  • Whether you want new, top level pages (meaning pages that aren’t beneath another; top-level pages are your main pages) to be automatically added to the menu.
  • Where you want the menu to appear. The theme you’ve chosen will dictate where you can add your menu. If you want to make it your primary menu, you can use the settings here to do that. Alternatively, as you can see, I can make this new menu my Social Links menu.

Be sure to click Save Menu to save your changes!

And that is how you manage your menus and create new ones in the Website Builder!

This knowledgebase article will guide you through adding your custom logo to the website!

Creating your website doesn’t have to be a hassle. Our website builder makes it easy to create a beautiful website in minutes without coding or design skills.

How to Add Your Custom Logo to the Website Builder

Step 1: Login to your cPanel. There’s a lot of ways to do this, but the sure fire easiest way is to login to your Client Area, then open your cPanel.

Step 2: Scroll down to the Software section and open the Website Builder:

Step 3: Your list of sites will load. Locate the site edit, then hover over that site and click the speedometer icon to login to the site.

Step 4: To add your custom logo, you need to access the Header that is on every page. To do this, click Pages from the menu on the left then click All Pages.

Next, click Edit next to Header.

Step 5: The page editor will open and you will be able to modify the 3 widgets at the top.

See the GIF below to see where each widget is placed:

  • On the left, the “My Website” area is it’s own widget.
  • In the center is the widget which contains the top menu for your website.
  • To the right is the widget which currently contains social media links.

To edit one of these areas, click the pencil while hovering over that area. See below:

To add your custom logo, you’ll need to delete the widget:

The widgets menu will appear from the left. Choose an Image widget.

Note, the menu on the left has changed from the widget selector to the Edit Image settings. Click into the space where it says “Choose Your Image” to open the Media Library.

Once the Media Library is open, click “Upload Files” at the top to upload your custom image.

To upload files, drag and drop them anywhere on the page, or use the “Select Files” button in the middle of the page to select them from the file picker.

When you’ve finished, click Insert at the bottom left. The image will be inserted into the header which is used on all of your pages.

And that’s how you insert your custom logo on your website which you created using the website builder.
