What are Private Nameservers?

Private nameservers allow you to set up nameservers for your own domain of choice. Let’s say you are operating a web hosting business and don’t want people to Google our nameservers and find out you really resell hosting thru us. Using private nameservers, you can avoid just this problem.

Having your own nameservers also gives you a more professional appearance than just plain nameservers, for example. ns1.bobshostingshack.com is pretty professional compared to our default nameservers. 😏

How to Setup Private Nameservers at Hostinger

Step 1: Click here to open the Hostinger page. You will be prompted to log in to your Hostinger Account:

Step 2: After signing into your Hostinger Account, click on Domains from the top menu.

On the next page, you will see a list of all domains registered in your Hostinger account.

Find the domain for which you wish to manage the Nameservers and click on it.

Step 3: While you are on the Domain Overview page, see the Nameservers option and click on the Change button.

Change Hostinger Nameservers

Step 4: Once the Name servers page has loaded, scroll down the page and click on the Child Nameservers tab.

Register Private Nameservers With Hostinger

Step 5: Once the Child nameservers page opens, you will have the option to enter your custom name servers.

First, you’ll need to enter the record name for your custom name servers in the Child Nameserver Fields. For example, if your nameservers are going to be ns1.yourdomain.tld, ns2.yourdomain.tld, and so forth, your glue record hostnames will look like the image above.

Second, you need to give each name server an IPv4 address. In the IPv4 address field, enter the IP address for each name server and click the save button. Click Save to save the changes.

Now your Child nameservers are established. Congrats! Your changes will now propagate.

Important Information About Changing Nameservers:

Nameserver changes are not instant. They require up to 24 hours to propagate globally. There are a lot of DNS servers to update with this new information, so definitely allow time for this information to propagate successfully.

Transfer Your Domain To ChemiCloud

There is no need to juggle separate providers, contacts, and services when you can have everything you need, all in one place.

If you’d like to manage your nameservers and your hosting in the same place, here at ChemiCloud, you should consider transferring your domain(s) from Google Domains to ChemiCloud.

That’s a wrap!

How to Configure a cPanel Server in WHMCS https://chemicloud.com/kb/article/configure-a-cpanel-server-in-whmcs/ https://chemicloud.com/kb/article/configure-a-cpanel-server-in-whmcs/#respond Fri, 23 Jul 2021 08:36:03 +0000 https://chemicloud.com/kb/?post_type=ht_kb&p=6237 WHMCS is your ultimate companion for reselling web hosting.  This guide will help you configure a cPanel server in WHMCS, which is the fourth step you should take after installing WHMCS.

Did you know that you can get a free WHMCS license with our reseller hosting plans? Give us a try! đŸ€

Let’s begin!

How to Configure a cPanel Server in WHMCS

You can follow the steps in this article or watch out our video tutorial.

Step 1: First, log in to your WHMCS Admin. Once logged in, click the wrench in the top right corner, then click System Settings.

Step 2: When the list of System Settings loads, use the search function at the top of the page to search for ‘servers’.

When the Servers option appears, click it to load the Servers Module.

Step 3: Click the Add New Server button to begin adding a new server.

Step 4: You will be presented with a list of options to link your server to WHMCS.

Since we are adding a cPanel server, be sure cPanel is the option selected next to Module.

Next, enter the IP address or Hostname of the server on which your Reseller account is located, followed by the WHM username and either a Password or API token.

Important Information:

At ChemiCloud, for maximum security, we recommend using the API Token method. If you aren’t familiar with generating a new API Token in WHM, follow our Knowledge Base article on the topic by clicking here.

Click Test Connection once you’ve finished. If the credentials you entered worked, you’ll be taken to the final Add Server page, which looks like this:

Step 5: On this page, you should fill in as much of this information as possible as that information will be used to auto-populate your client accounts when they are purchased and provisioned via WHMCS.

It is very important you set the nameservers fields as they will be needed for your customer’s domains, otherwise, they will not resolve and you’ll have to intervene and help your clients.

If you are using our Reseller Hosting, you have two options for your nameservers.

  1. You can create your own custom nameservers. If you aren’t familiar with creating private nameservers, we have a Knowledge Base article on that which you can read by clicking here.
  2. Use the generic nameservers which were provided by ChemiCloud when your account was created. Please consult your welcome email for these nameservers.

This will allow you to use the Automation Functions in WHMCS to make your life that much easier.

When you’ve finished, click the Save Changes button at the bottom.

And that’s how you add a new cPanel server to WHMCS.

▶ Please join us in the next tutorial where we will walk you through creating a product in WHMCS which is the fifth step you should take after installing WHMCS.

How to Set up Private Nameservers https://chemicloud.com/kb/article/how-to-set-up-private-nameservers/ https://chemicloud.com/kb/article/how-to-set-up-private-nameservers/#respond Wed, 20 Dec 2017 14:54:06 +0000 https://chemicloud.com/kb/?post_type=article&p=815 In this tutorial, we will show you how to set up private nameservers on your hosting account using the WHM (Web Host Manager) interface.

What is a private nameserver?

Setting up your own private nameservers has several benefits. While a set of a private nameserver will allow you to run your own name server which will respond to DNS requests, you can also use them for branding purposes. This feature is available exclusively on all our Reseller Hosting and VPS Hosting plans.

Using custom nameservers will hide the fact that your domain’s DNS requests are handled by our public nameservers, allowing the reseller to position themselves as the hosting company. For example, instead of pointing the domains at our generic nameservers, you could use private ones that look like:

ns1.yourdomain.com
ns2.yourdomain.com

How to Set up Private Nameservers in WHM:

1) The first step is to Log in to WHM. You can easily do so from your Client Area’s Dashboard by clicking on the WHM button for your active reseller service.

2) Once you are logged into WHM, click on the Basic WebHost Manager Setup button located on the left side menu.

3) Choose the second option “Explicitly Set the Nameservers” and enter the private nameservers you’d like to set:

WHM Nameservers Setup

4) You now need to create the DNS records for the nameservers you just created, there are two scenarios below.

First scenario: The domain you used for the nameservers is currently using ChemiCloud’s nameservers.

1) From WHM click on the DNS Zone Manager button located under the DNS Functions section in the left side menu and select the domain name that you want to use for the custom nameservers.

DNS Zone Manager

2) Click on the + A Record button and create the following 3 A records as shown in the image, using the following IP Addresses:

Name: ns1
Address: 104.236.38.47

Name: ns2
Address: 46.101.214.99

ns2 A Record

Name: ns3
Address: 93.113.174.242

Now that the private nameservers have been set up in WHM, the next step is to register the Nameservers with your Domain Registrar.

If your domain is registered with another registrar, you will need to log in to your domain registrar where you registered your domain and register the private nameservers using the IPs that we have provided above.

Second scenario: the domain you used for the nameservers is not using ChemiCloud’s nameservers.

If the domain you used for the nameservers is currently using the nameservers of another provider you will need to create the A records for the nameserver from their control panel. You just need to create the following A records:

ns1. that points to IP 104.236.38.47
ns2. that points to IP 46.101.214.99
ns3. that points to IP 93.113.174.242

Please keep in mind that any DNS changes can take up to 24-48 hours to fully propagate.

That’s it. Now you know how to set up your private nameservers.

How to Update a DNS Record in cPanel https://chemicloud.com/kb/article/update-dns-record/ https://chemicloud.com/kb/article/update-dns-record/#respond Sun, 19 Feb 2017 14:16:26 +0000 https://chemicloud.com/kb/?post_type=article&p=424 Users can update the DNS records for their domains from within the cPanel, however, please note that this effect will only work if Chemicloud’s nameservers or private nameservers registered with Chemicloud IPs are being used.

1) Log into cPanel.

2) Look for the “Domains” section and click on “Zone Editor”.

3) If you have more than one domain entered in your cPanel choose the domain name for which you would like the DNS zone modified. You can also use the search bar to find the domain name.

4) From this area, you can either create a new A Record, CNAME Record or add an MX record.

5) You can also edit or remove a DNS record you have previously created by clicking on the “Manage” link.

6) If you no longer wish to use a DNS record you have previously created it can be simply removed by clicking the “Delete” link.

7)  To update a DNS record you have previously created simply click the Edit link and make the necessary changed and hit the “Save Record” button to update the record.

Please note that Name server and DNS zone changes can typically take 12 to 24 hours to take effect, but they are known to take as long as 48 hours to go into full effect.

Nothing can be done to speed the DNS propagation process, however, it is recommended that you plan for propagation ahead of time to minimize the effects of downtime.

Once you change the DNS it is recommended to flush your DNS, in order to be sure your computer hasn’t cached an old IP address.
